Indonesia's archipelago islands are filled with beauty, culture and history. The first stop in our LOVE adventure is the island of Bali, the mecca of artisanal craftsmanship and design. We've expanded our artisan group to encompass villages in Java. We are happy to bring you this diverse collection from a paradise near and dear to our hearts.
Love Is Project donated 10,000,000 IDR ($720 USD) to an eco-waste recycling project for our artisans in East Java, Indonesia.
In just 2 weeks one person can make 50000 IDR from picking up waste to recycle.
The new project has created jobs for 12 people. Besides from being another income generating source, it helps so that people do not litter and the village is clean.
While they are best known for their Love Is Project tote bags, 105 Balinese and Javanese locals have been hard at work to create, package, and sew fun-patterned face masks to protect our community from COVID-19.
Whereas other apparel factories have had to shut down or pause their operations, the Love Is Project artisans are busier than ever as they continue to support their families and maintain steady employment. Because they’re currently employed, they’ve simultaneously thrown pandemic-related support events to give back to their community.
As told by Love Is Project photographer, Shayna Pitch, and videographer, Brandon Nadeau
I was introduced to Chrissie’s and Love is Project over a doubles game of tennis arranged by a mutual friend. I know...how random. Chrissie and I shared our passion for capturing portraits of people we meet during our travels. She also shared the amazing work she is doing to empower women all over the world through Love Is Project.
I think we both felt there was some Bali magic and synchronicity in the air. So we made a plan to visit the over 300 women she employs in East Java to document the impact this project was having on their lives.
Purchasing Love canvas totes makes it possible for us to bring supplies, awareness, and support to villages like Lombok. Every time you shop with us, you're doing your part.
Our LOVE is Green bracelet is beaded on recycled tires, a major source of pollution in the developing world, and backed by EVA foam, which is phthalate- and BPA-free.
This bracelet isn’t just made with sustainability in mind: A portion of the proceeds from bracelet sales will go to Bali’s Green School local scholarship fund. At their wall-less campus in the thriving heart of the Bali jungle, Green School is empowering the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs to perpetuate the practice of sustainability, whether it’s in business or government.
You're helping us show up and provide more economic opportunities to our partner artisans.
